Eino J. Alanen, 73, of Marquette, a native of Bruce Crossing, died Monday morning, January 13, 2003 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.

Mr. Alanen was born on August 31, 1929 in Bruce Crossing, Michigan to the late Emil and Ruusa Tienhaara Alanen. He graduated from Ewen High School in 1948.

Eino worked most of his life as a carpenter in the union trades out of Brighton, Michigan. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the hunting camp in Bruce Crossing with his son, brothers and two friends. He also enjoyed working in his garden.

Eino is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, the former Ellen G. Kulppi whom he married on March 14, 1953 in Detroit. He was the dear father of Robin Larry Mosher of Galesburg, MI and Thomas John Jean Alanen of Mass City, MI; special grandfather of Maria Liisa Mosher and Matthew Mosher; brother of Roy Elna Alanen, Ishpeming, Elmer Evelyn Alanen, Marquette and Reino Alanen of Bruce Crossing; also several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Harvey with the Rev. Chrys Levesque officiating. Interment will take place in Bruce Crossing. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
