Roy Elmer Trottier, 87, of Gwinn, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home. He was born January 8, 1930 in Marenisco Township, Michigan, a son of Romeo and Anna (Cichon) Trottier. Roy served in the US Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He worked as a welder and with sheet metal for many years and was last employed as the manager of the sheet metal & welding shop at the former KI Sawyer AFB. He also taught a night school class in welding. Roy was a life member of the Gwinn VFW and Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time at camp, taking saunas, hunting and fishing. Roy also spent time working on side jobs which included roofing and pouring cement driveways around town and many weekend projects at his friend, Bernie Kilma’s garage. Roy is survived by three children, LuRae Seaman of Tampa, FL, Melanie Rose of Grand Rapids, MI and Michael (Jamie Blanck) Trottier of Gwinn; grandchildren, Jonathan and Stephanie Seaman, Melinda and Misty Rose, Brandon Bodnar and Nathan (Katy) Trottier; great-grandchildren, Mikeyman, Max, Macy, Willo, Cadin, Kyler, Carter, Kodi, Taylor, Katrina, Connor, Brennen and Cullen; longtime friend, Porky Connors of Gwinn; special friend, Clare Brewer of Gwinn; and loyal English Springer, Maizy Mae. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandy Trottier-Reynolds; sister, Mary Ann Anderson; and grandson, Bernie Marttila. Roy’s family would like to thank Mike & Sue Koski for the help provided. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 12 Noon in Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Andrew Plocher officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery. Mike & Nathan Trottier, Brad Hill, Eric Jancsi, Porky Connors and Art Ontto, Jr will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gwinn VFW Post 5670, 54 N. Mitchell Street, Gwinn, MI 49841. The Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at
