Rose M. Anderson, 85, of Gwinn, died peacefully Thursday evening, May 4, 2017 at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette. Rose was born on July 9, 1931 in Gwinn at the family home to the late George and Josephine (Yannone) D’Angelo and had been a lifelong Gwinn area resident. She was a 1949 graduate of Gwinn High School. Following graduation, Rose attended Cosmetology School in Escanaba by commuting back and forth from Gwinn for her classes. She later worked as a beautician at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base for several years. Rose was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn. She enjoyed bowling, loved to cook and often it seemed that she cooked for everyone in Gwinn and that is the beauty of small town life, being able to claim everyone in the community as your own. She is survived by four children, Rodney Filizetti and Ricky Filizetti, both of Gwinn, Roxanne Filizetti of Marquette and David Anderson of Gwinn; six grandchildren, Tracy Filizetti, Rena Filizetti, Carly (Tyler) Schoettmer, Sarah (Mike) Koskiniemi, Brooke (David) Jacobson and Ricci Filizetti; 10 great grandchildren, Brenton Dahl, Madison Dahl, Pheenix Powell, Maddox Powell, Braxtyn Powell, Kamryn Koskiniemi, Ella Jacobson, Jake Schoettmer, Halle Schoettmer, and Piper Koskiniemi. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Preceding Rose in death besides her parents was her first husband, Reno Filizetti and second husband, Harry Anderson; also four siblings, Caroline Caduto, Antoinette Kangas, Louis D’Angelo, and Delores Kirkpatrick. Friends may call at the Baraga Room of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Burial will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Mrs. Anderson’s memory. The Canale Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
