Ronald W. Erickson, 74, of Greenland, MI, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia on March 19, 2017 with his sister Jill by his side. Ron was in Gardenview in Calumet for seven months and went to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans on December 16, 2016. All the workers enjoyed Ron for his smile and easy going ways. Ron was born March 3, 1943 at his home in Greenland to Ever and Erma Erickson. He attended Mass School and graduated with the class of 1961. Ron entered the U.S. Army in the fall of 1961 and completed his duties in 1963. In 1964 he went to NMU and earned a vocational certificate. Ron then went to work for Chrysler in Detroit. He returned home in July of 1965 for his father’s funeral and stayed to help his mom and young sister, Jill. Ron was hired as a surveyor at White Pine Copper where he worked until 1986. He drove school bus and was hired by On-Tran where he worked until his retirement. Ron will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his brothers, Ken (Dorothy) Erickson of Escanaba and Bob (Dorothy) Erickson of Fargo, ND; sisters, Joanne Buehler of Hartland, MI and Jill (Kevin) Burke of Greenland; 9 nieces, 3 nephews, 8 great nieces and 10 great nephews, whom he was all very proud of.
