Patricia L. MacDonald, 86, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017 at her home with her loving family at her side and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. Pat was born on March 17, 1930 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, a daughter of the late George and Anna (Nordell) Trepanier and was a lifelong U.P. resident. She graduated from Marquette Public Schools. Pat married Owen "Mac" MacDonald on October 15, 1949 at St. Peter Cathedral. Pat was a devoted mother and grandmother and was talented in many ways. She not only knitted for her grandchildren, but also donated her talents as a volunteer for Marquette General Hospital. She also had a hidden talent of being an artist and loved to paint. Pat was formerly employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company, Jack and Jill and for many years at Jean's Jewelry in Marquette. Survivors include two children, Corky Salminen (Richard Caden) of Marquette and Michael MacDonald of St. John, Virgin Islands (Teresa DeVerney); and daughter-in-law, Joan MacDonald of Delmar, DE. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Scott Salminen, Amy Consolatti, Sonya, Lindsay and Mike MacDonald, Teresa Luedeman, David, Carly Jo, and Sarah MacDonald, and Becky Dawson; 10 great grandchildren, Erik and Anna Salminen, Caden Consolatti, Jorgia and Camryn Todd, Logan and Landen Luedeman, Chyana, Scott and Sadie Dawson; also several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Owen "Mac" MacDonald on October 25, 2008; son, Richard MacDonald on February 9, 2017; brother, Leonard Trepanier and sister, Kitty Raish; a son-in-law, John Salminen; also two grandsons, Jorge "Sunshine" and Phillip MacDonald. Pat will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Peter Cathedral at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends in the Bishop's Room of the cathedral beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A luncheon will take place in the parish hall immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to UPAWS, PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855 or the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Activity Fund, 325 Fisher St., Marquette, MI 49855 in memory of Pat.
