Maureen Anne Paris, 64, of Scottsdale Arizona, peacefully entered eternal life on Wednesday November 23rd, 2016 at her home in the presence of her loving family and under the compassionate care of Hospice of the Valley. Maureen was diagnosed with Cancer in 2010. She was a strong woman. She was determined that cancer would not control her life. It didn't! She had quality of life for the majority of her illness. Everyone who knew her was amazed at her determination. Maureen was born on April 9, 1952 in Marquette MI. She was the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Cherrette) Paris. She attended Saint John Catholic Elementary School and Bishop Baraga Central High School in Marquette. Bishop Baraga closed in 1969. She went on to graduate from Marquette Senior High School in 1970. After graduation she spent a number of years working at Northern Michigan University, in both the Alumni and News Bureau Offices. She enjoyed her time at NMU. She cultivated many lifelong friendships. She had many stories to tell about the fun times at Northern. In the early eighties she decided to move to a warmer climate, remaining the rest of her life in Arizona, working for Motorola and General Dynamics in Scottsdale. She received a Bachelor's degree while working at General Dynamics. Surviving are her sister, Marie (James) Paris Burke of Marquette; two nephews, Steven Somers of Saline MI and Christopher Somers of Barranquilla, Colombia, South America; one niece, Michelle Somers (Nicole Ross) of Folsom, CA; her best friend and caregiver, Dave Smith and numerous cherished friends from both Marquette and Scottsdale. Once you became a friend of Maureen you were a friend for life. Maureen's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday December 20th in the Bishop's Room at St. Peter Cathedral from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated after visitation at 11 AM with the Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating followed immediately by a luncheon in the church hall. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery next summer. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Maureen's name to Trillium House, a hospice home, to be located in Marquette, with ground breaking planned for 2017. The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at
