John C. Racine, 80, of Marquette, died Monday morning, August 22, 2016 at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City, Michigan. He was born December 14, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Kind) Racine. He was a 1954 graduate of Graveraet High School and was a lifelong area resident. John married Nancy Paquin in St. Ignace on October 3, 1959. He was employed as a parts manager at Ford Motor Company before beginning his lengthy career in real estate in 1972. He worked as a realtor for the Elder Agency then opened his own real estate firm, Racine Realty which he operated until his retirement in 2008. John was a US Army veteran, a member of St. Peter Cathedral and enjoyed dining out, hunting, watching westerns, trips to the casino and time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his garden, golfing and traveling with his best friends, Donald and Bootsie Toti. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Racine of Marquette; children, Cheryl Racine, Karen (Todd) Smith, John and Joan Racine; grandchildren, Nick and Sarah Racine and Taylor Williams; a great-grandchild, Jayce James Fraley; siblings, Ronnie Racine, Suzie Beaudin, Betty, Robert & Jimmy Racine and Marietta Wheeler; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter; and sister, Julie. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber officiating.
