Darryl “Deets” D. Montagna, 83, of Marquette, died peacefully Sunday evening, July 23, 2017, at his home. He was born January 20, 1934 in Marquette, a son of the late Antonio and Mayme (Parker) Montagna and was a lifelong area resident. Deets served as a sailor in the US Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 1070 and IBEW Local 906 for 55 years. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge and was a Past Exalted Ruler in 1977. Deets interests included coin collecting, BINGO, casino trips, traveling and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hurley) Montagna, whom he married in Las Vegas, NV in 1982; children, Tina (Victor) Hill, Darryl “Deeto” Montagna, Vicky (Greg) Heath, Terry (David) Long, Stacy (Chris) Garrison and Barb (Eddie) Berndt; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth & David, and a sister, Dinah. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 12 Noon in St. Peter Cathedral with Rev. Aaron Nowicki officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the mass in the Bishop’s Room. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family. The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at
