Carol A. McGlynn, 81, of Marquette, passed away Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017 with her loving family at her side and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. Carol was born on December 13, 1935 in Marquette, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ann (Johnson) Specker and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Bishop Baraga High School. Carol worked for the State of Michigan Department of Social Services as an office manager from 1972-1992. She was an active member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church. Out of all the jobs and activities that filled Carol’s life however, her greatest jobs were that of being a mom and a grandma. After retirement, Carol and her late husband, Jim, enjoyed wintering in Lakeland, Florida, nurturing the wildlife in her back yard, and hosting family gatherings at her home. She is survived by four children, Bob (Vickie) Spitz of St. Augustine, FL, Jim Spitz of Lansing, MI, Jill Froberg (Steve Rudness) of Gwinn, and Peggy (Mike) Brace of Lake Odessa, MI: three grandchildren, Eric Froberg (Connie Fries) of Marquette, Angela (James) Daye of Columbus, OH and Dylan (Jillian) Spitz of Columbus, OH; four great grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Ethan and Gabe. Also surviving is a step-son, Mike McGlynn of Lansing. Preceding her in death besides her parents were her first husband, Robert Spitz and second husband, James McGlynn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12 noon in St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey with the Rev. Glenn Theoret officiating and Deacon Scott Jamieson assisting. Relatives and friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday. A luncheon will follow in Father Gauthier Hall at the church after which time she will be laid to rest at the Park Cemetery. The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
