Cal “Sweede” Zorza, 84, of Marquette, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit with his loving family at his side. Cal was born on January 4, 1933 in Marquette, one of 13 children born to Angelo and Matilda (Pantti) Zorza and was a lifelong Marquette resident. For several years, Cal managed the Miracle Market on Third Street before opening Cals’ Party store in South Marquette in 1970. Cal’s greatest joy was taking care of people and the store allowed him to take care of so many. His family helped support the business in one way or another especially Joel who took over the business in 2002 and Sharon whose cooking and personality continue the tradition of taking care of the customers using “Cal Care.” Outside of his work, Cal greatly enjoyed being outdoors working with lumber and wood as well as spending time at his camp. His greatest joy however was taking care of his family especially “his girl.” He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Joan Gregorich; seven children, Lynn L’Huillier of Marquette, Sharon VanWormer (Mike Havel) of Marquette, Gregory (Kathy) Zorza of Gwinn, Joel (Gail) Zorza of Marquette, Bonnie (Bill) McCabe of Marquette, David (Mindy) Zorza of Marquette, and Chris (Elizabeth) Zorza of Gladstone; three brothers, Paul (Lillyann) Zorza, Tom (Mary) Zorza and Angelo (Sue) Zorza, Jr., all of Marquette; also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Ken, Marvin, Gerald, Daniel, Robert, and Arnold Zorza; two sisters, Geraldine Thibodeau and Carol Sherman; also a son-in-law, Vern L’Huillier and great grandson, Peyton McCabe. A private family graveside service will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to UPAWS, PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855 or to the Bay Cliff Health Camp, PO Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808 in Cal’s memory. The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at
