Beverly E. Mayhew, 85, of Prior Lake, MN, and formerly of Marquette, passed away on Wednesday morning, June 7, 2017 in the presence of her family at New Perspective Senior Living in Prior Lake. Beverly was born on May 23, 1932 in Wells, MI to the late Walter and Saimi (Maki) Nelson. She was a 1951 graduate of Graveraet High School. Beverly worked for two years in clerical and accounting in Chicago for Chicago Roller-skate before beginning her family. Her family were longtime residents of Elmhurst, IL. Beverly and her husband, Hank returned to Marquette in their retirement and wintered in Madeira Beach, Florida. Beverly loved to spend time in her garden and enjoyed participating in amateur musical theatre. Her favorite times were spent in activities with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Bryon Lee (Juliana) Mayhew of the Philippines, Bradley Ward (Susan) Mayhew of Dunedin, FL and Kimberly Ann (John) Farmer of Prior Lake, MN; five grandchildren, Tammy Butz, Jackie Mayhew, Joshua Rose, Simon Rose and Treves Rose; three great grandchildren, Brody Butz, Joshua Eaden and Jacob Eaden; two sisters, Sandy (Tom) Vitito of Escanaba and Maxine (“Pudgy”) L’Huillier of Marquette; brother-in-law, John Tuttle of Skandia; and several nieces and nephews. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Saimi (Maki) Nelson; in-laws, Henry G. Sr. and Elsie O (Treves) Mayhew; a sister, Janice Tuttle and her loving husband of 54 years, Henry “Hank” Mayhew, Jr., whom she married in 1955 in Marquette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Brandon Oman officiating. Beverly’s family will greet relatives and friends in the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will take place immediately following the luncheon in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
